This shear bar (also known as a ledger bar, chopper cutter bar, or a forage harvester counter knife/stationary knife) is used to create a cutting edge for the cutter drum knives to come across to cut the material being harvested. Install to factory settings, no special tools are required. This bar is heat-treated, welded, and hard-faced with tungsten carbide. Visually inspect for wear, a ragged cut or poor feeding is a good indication.
